As most of you probably know this is the final season of the Nationwide Premier League. It's been a great five years but it's time to move on. Thank you to everyone who participated this year and helped make the experience even more enjoyable and a fun year. For those of us moving on to Brew City FA next year we will keep the good times rolling while everyone else who is either not returning or moving onto a new division the best of luck to you! Thanks once again everyone :-)

Weeks 26, 27, 28, & 29

The Top 5 remains fairly similar after a few more weeks of play. Dudley Street Hooligans remains on top (547 points), Dumpley Street Morons is in second (536, -11 of leader), Duck Butter Bandits is in third (512, -35), Clockwork Orange is in fourth (505, -42), and Glorydaze rounds out the Top 5 coming in fifth (495, -52). With two weeks to play the race for the NPL Crown will come down to the wire.

The Miklos Feher Cup has recieved a mass update in the MFCup thread in our NPL Division Forums. The Quarterfinals and Semifinals were both updated leaving us with two teams left. The Finals are being played over Weeks 30 & 31 and are between Hirudinae FC and The Laws of Lalas. Good luck to both managers!

The last piece of info I have to talk about is the future of the NPL. After much discussion the NPL will be merging next year with the well-renown division Brew City FA. About eight teams were invited to come over and various tournaments/NPL traditions will be kept alive. As for a seperate division though the NPL is done after five great years. It's sad to see it come to this but it seems to be by far the best option. For more information visit these two links: Future of the NPL & Brew City-NPL Merger.

Tough week for the NPL here with some really close matches. Group Play starts next week though with Causmos, Glorydaze, Mohawks FC, and FC Orlando 98 competing. Good luck to the four squads. The Group Stage started for the East Coast FA Cup this week. NPL scores were: Duck Butter Bandits 0:0 GameCocks, Causmos 0:1 Landanday Rovers, Glorydaze 1:1 Kingsbridge, Mohawks FC 1:1 Thruball, and 1987 Manchester 0:1 Port City Navigators. Round 2 is this week. Group Stage also started in the Mug 'O' Suds this week. Causmos fell short 0:1 to the Halmstad Swedes. Mohawks FC came up with a 1:1 tie against Elastic Norsemen. FC Orlando 98 got a 2:1 win over Headhunter FC. Kingsbridge tied the ManaMana 1:1, and Glorydaze tied Alewive FC 1:1, also. Matchday 2 is this week.

The Silversmiths Cup started this week with Mohawks FC and 1987 Manchester competing. Both squads got clobbered on opening day but hopefully things will turn around next week.

The Miklos Feher Cup is still in qualifying and the ADPR won't be updated this week.

Week 3

Week 3 was slightly better than the first week but not much. Most teams place with under 10 points. The NPL Top 5 switched around slightly. Turboduck SC made a jump from not even being in the Top 5 all the way to leading us right now with 70 points. Dumpley Street Morons remains in second with 68 points. cYber warriors falls to third after a hard week with 66 points. Kingsbridge took over fourth place with 58 points and rounding out the Top 5 there is a three way tie with 54 points between Fox River FC, The Laws of Lalas, and Glorydaze.

Matchday 1 of the NFA Cup started this week. Most scores were relatively close and there was even a -1:-1 tie between Outsiders CFC and Hirudinae FC. Group leaders after one week are: Westfield United (Group A), Van der Sara FC (Group A), Dumpley Street Morons (Group B), Causmos (Group B), Glorydaze (Group C), C.C. United (Group C), FC Burn (Group D), Clockwork Orange (Group D), Turboduck SC (Group E), FC Orlando 98 (Group E), and FC Stark Industries (Group F). Matchday 2 starts next week.

Round 2 of the Geographic Cup took place. In the South the current NPL team scores are: Westfield United up 10:7 on GameCocks, Glorydaze is up 12:6 on Port City Navigators, and The Laws of Lalas is up 1:-5 on Duck Butter Bandits. In the West the scores are: Turboduck SC 22:8 Alpine Dream and cYber warriors -2:4 Alewive FC. All NPL teams have a first leg lead except cYber warriors but he doesn't have much ground to make up. Qualifying continued in the American Association Cup with 5 NPL teams competing. Scores are: Westfield United 10:6 C.C. United, 1987 Manchester 0:12 Shortbus Kids FC, Duck Butter Bandits -5:4 Seattle SC, and Turboduck SC 22:11 DWB's. Congrats to Westfield United and Turboduck SC as they move on to the last Qualifying round joining Kingsbridge.

The East Coast FA Open Cup finished the Play In Rounds. Duck Butter Bandits defeated Alewive FC in the two leg aggregate series while Westfield United fell to Real New Britski. Duck Butter Bandits is joining Causmos, Kingsbridge, Glorydaze, 1987 Manchester, and Mohawks FC in the Group Stage kicking off next week.

The Mug 'O' Suds also finished qualifying with our only NPL team, Kingsbridge, moving on to the Group Stage. The NPL teams in Group Stage starting this week are: Causmos (Group B), Mohawks FC (Group C), FC Orlando 98 (Group D), Kingsbridge (Group E), and Glorydaze (Group F). Good luck!

The Miklos Feher League Cup is still in qualifying stages and in the ADPR the NPL is still not in the Top 10. Let's work on that!

Week 2

Week 2 was a much better week for the NPL with half the league getting 30+ points. The race for the Championship is already starting even though its very early. cYber warriors came off the blocks fast this year and already has a 9 point lead over second place Dumpley Street Morons and a 15 point lead over third place The Laws of Lalas. Fourth place goes to Fox River FC with 48 points and Kingsbridge rounds out the Top 5 with 47 points. Sixth place to eleventh are only seperated by a measely 6 points. Also it looks as if we got our 24th member now so everything is set.

The second leg of the Geographic Cup occured this week. Out in the Northeast Kingsbridge won the second leg over Real New Britski but wasn't able to make up the margin he lost by in the first leg and failed to advance. C.C. United dropped the second leg to Thruball and also failed to advance. The Northeast Bracket is now NPL-less. In the South, Westfield United won the second leg and also made up the gap to defeat BullDawgs and moved on to the Second Round. Causmos had stiff competition against Aviators and also failed to advance. Glorydaze had a comeback against youwantjellywiththattoast and is advancing to the Round of 32. The Laws of Lalas dominated his matchup against Inferno FC and is advancing. Duck Butter Bandits took the second leg against fellow NPL member FC Orlando 98 and moves on knocking FC Orlando 98 out of the competition. In the North, 1987 Manchester went up against a strong team of Canicas FC and got bumped out. Mohawks FC also went up against stiff competition and got demolished by Heresy House. No NPL teams are left in the North Bracket. In the West, Turboduck SC defeated Sequoia F.C. moving on to the second round as well as cYber warriors who dominated SDFC Macross. Matchups for Week 3 are: Westfield United - Gamecocks, Glorydaze - Port City Navigators, Duck Butter Bandits - The Laws of Lalas, Turboduck SC - Alpine Dream, cYber warriors - Alewive FC. Good luck NPL teams.

The American Association Cup Qualifiers kicked off this week with two NPL teams competing. 1987 Manchester won their match over FC Cabo by a score of 31-20 while C.C. United narrowly edged RedBull LI, 25-22. Congrats to both teams. NPL teams who are competing in the Week 3 playing matches are: 1987 Manchester, C.C. United, Westfield United, Duck Butter Bandits, and Turboduck SC.

The Mug 'O' Suds had the second Play In match this week with one NPL team competing. Kingsbridge came out victorious with a 3:2 win over FC Bayern Tampa. Kingsbridge moves on the play next week and remains our only NPL team in Qualifying.

The East Coast FA Open Cup also started this week with Play In matches. Duck Butter Bandits won the first leg 3:1 over Alewive FC while Westfield United lost the first leg 1:3 to Real New Britski. Good luck to both teams in the second leg.

The ADPR started again and the NPL didn't manage to make the Top 10 but that's bound to change once teams start picking up form. Right now we only have two teams placing in the top 100.

Finally, the NFA Cup time has arrived. All teams will be seeded into their Groups based on their overall rank as of Week 2. The NFA Cup page will be updated reflecting the change soon.

Week 1

MFLS Week 1 is in the books and it was quite a week. Scores being unpredictable and all over the place made it hard for managers to really get a solid start for the 2008 season. The Top 5 for the NPL are Outsiders CFC (19 points), The Laws of Lalas(17), Glorydaze (15), cYber warriors (13), and Clockwork Orange (13). Interesting start with 3 new teams to the NPL placing in the Top 5 and a couple of veterans being towards the bottom. The league has also expanded to 23 teams and has another one with interest who should be joining soon to top us off at 24 for the season.

The annual Nationwide Supercup occured over Week 1 in the NPL with Causmos, the defending NFA Champ, taking on FC Orlando 98, the defending NPL champ. It was a low scoring battle that ended in a 1-1 draw. Causmos took home the trophy though with a PK coming from Chrisitan Gomez. Congratulations to Steve Ercolano and the Causmos!

The Elite Cup, only MFLS Preseason tourney, ended with Mohawks FC failing to get the job done in the semifinals. Better luck next year for our NPL guys.

The 2008 Geographic Cup kicked off this week with 12 NPL teams competing. In the NorthEast Bracket: Kingsbridge 6-23 Real New Britski and C.C. United -9 to -1 thruball. In the South Bracket: Westfield United 0-4 BullDawgs, Causmos 1-22 Aviators, Glorydaze 15-19 youwantjellywiththattoast, The Laws of Lalas 17-12 Inferno FC, and FC Orlando 1-2 Duck Butter Bandits. In the North Bracket: 1987 Manchester -1-33 Canicas FC and Mohawks FC -5-26 Heresy House. In the West Bracket: Turboduck SC 5-9 Sequoia F.C. and cYber warriors 13 to -2 SDFC Macross. For the most part our teams have a lot of work to do in the second leg of Round 1. The Laws of Lalas, Duck Butter Bandits, and cYber warriors are our only teams with leads right now so hopefully that will turn around in the second leg.

NOTE: Seedings for the NFA Cup will be determined after Week 2 takes place.

Preseason

Participants page is updated with all current teams. We are still looking to get two more teams into the league. MFLS starts in a little over one week.

  • In the Elite Cup (MFLS's only Preseason Tourney), Mohawks FC is still in the semifinals for the NPL. Hopefully he can bring home another trophy for the NPL (of course it's ran through a simulator but every trophy counts!)
  • The Nationwide FA Cup set to go. After Week 2 all teams participating in the NPL this year will be seeded based on current MFLS points into groups. Group Play begins on Week 3.
  • The Nationwide Supercup will be taking place on Week 1. Causmos (NFA Champ) will be taking on FC Orlando 98 (League Champ). Good luck to both teams.
  • The Champions League is up this year under to management. The top teams in the NPL will be entered into the CL this year. I will update weekly on who qualifies as of then. The CL will run from weeks 20-29.
  • The Cup Winners Cup is also up just the same. The NPL has entered the NFA Cup in. The winner of the NFA Cup will compete against the winners of other division cup champs and inter-divisional cup champs. The CWC will run from Weeks 23-29.
  • The American Association's Cup Site has been completely updated and the Schedule is out. We have four teams with automatic bids into Group Play: Causmos (Group C), Glorydaze (Group C), Mohawks FC (Group D), and FC Orlando 98 (Group D). Unfortunately for us they didn't get spread out into four different groups but yet all four teams have a chance of moving on to the Knockout Rounds. Those four teams will begin play on Week 5. The NPL has six other teams in the AAC this year but have to go through Qualifying first: 1987 Manchester (Enters Week 2), C.C. United (Enters Week 2), Duck Butter Bandits (Enters Week 3), Turboduck SC (Enters Week 3), Westfield United (Enters Week 3), and Kingsbridge (Enters Week 4). Good luck to all ten teams and more will be posted here as the time comes.
  • The prestigous Mug 'O' Suds Invitational is back. Only the Top 48 teams on the Invite List are able to get in. So far the NPL has attempted to get in ten teams: Causmos (#2), Mohawks FC (#3), FC Orlando 98 (#10), Glorydaze (#16), Kingsbridge (#47), Westfield United (bumped), Duck Butter Bandits (bumped), 1987 Manchester (bumped), cYber warriors (bumped), and The Laws of Lalas (bumped). So it looks like this year the NPL will be sending five teams since signups close Monday the 24th.
  • The Silversmiths Cup is a cup for all the managers who run cups of their own that participate in the Cup Winners Cup. The only teams from the NPL that will be competing in this are Mohawks FC (Runs the Nationwide FA Cup & the American Association Cup) and 1987 Manchester (Runs the East Coast Open Cup).
  • The Miklos Feher Cup site is also up but still not yet complete. Group play does begin on Week 2 and is spread thoughout the entire year with the Final being on Week 30. Thanks again for running it Eddie!
  • The East Coast Open Cup is running again by our fellow NPL manager 1987 Manchester. Seven NPL teams are in it this year. Both Westfield United and Duck Butter Bandits will be playing in the Play-In Round on Week 2 & Week 3. Hopefully both managers will move on to join our other four teams in the Group Play: 1987 Manchester, Mohawks FC, Glorydaze, Causmos, and Kingsbridge.
  • The Geographic Cup has been resurrected this year. The tourney places teams based on geographic location in a 64 team knockout bracket. We have twelve teams competing from the NPL: The Laws of Lalas (Alabama), Turboduck SC (California), FC Orlando 98 (Florida), Duck Butter Bandits (Florida), Glorydaze (Georgia), Mohawks FC (Indiana), Kingsbridge (Massachussetts), C.C. United (New York), 1987 Manchester (Pennsylvania), cYber warriors (Texas), Causmos (Virginia), and Westfield United (Virginia). Signups are almost complete as of right now so we don't have a schedule yet but I will post when it's released.
  • The MFLS Open Cup has started up also. Eleven NPL teams have signed up so far: 1987 Manchester, Causmos, C.C. United, Duck Butter Bandits, FC Orlando 98, Kingsbridge, Mohawks FC, Glorydaze, Turboduck SC, cYber warriors, and Westfield United. After Week 3 every team that signs up (signups are still open and there's already 64+ in the tourney) will be ranked based on MFLS total points. The Top 64 teams will be seeded into the Brackets. Most likely all of our eleven teams will be in that group but it's possible some won't. Actual Knockout Play begins on Week 4.

Opening of MFLS 2008

MFLS just opened up very very recently and signups have begun. I created the Nationwide Premier League division and everything is up and running smoothly. All teams who were in the NPL last year get first spots in this year. I shot out emails to everyone who's password I already had (the ones who had it on their team page last year primarily) and gave the password to them. If you did not have your email up then I most likely don't have it. Email me (you can find it on my team page in MFLS) and let me know who you are and I'll send you the password back.

NEWCOMERS - If you are interested in joining the NPL this year then I would advise you to send me an email and let me know your team name and I'll put you on a waiting list to get in. I'll give all old managers about 2 weeks to get back into the NPL until I start giving out the password to other teams.

February 29, 2008

Lots of updates. Here we go: 1) All pictures removed off site due to them not showing up and working. No idea why. Right now I'm time cramped and haven't checked into it 100% but if I get a chance I will. 2) The Miklos Feher Cup is going to be run by Eddie Arent the manager of FC Orlando 98. Once he sends me a link to the site I'll post it on the top links. 3) Weeks for the NFA Cup this year have been determined. We have to finish it off in Week 15 due to Weeks 16-20 having multiple idle teams and we need to be done by roughly Week 21 for the CWC. Also if you have been out of the loop. MFLS Starts on March 2. Which is this Sunday (I'm writing this now on Friday). Sometime during that Sunday I will create the division and shoot out emails to everyone who was in the NPL last year. If you're email was not posted on your 2007 MFLS Team Page then PLEASE email me and let me know. There are about 10 of you. If you don't then I won't be able to send you the password and get in. After saying this I know there will be multiple openings probably so if you are not currently in a top level division then contact me and I'll put you on the waiting list. See you all Sunday!

January 28, 2008

Website updated. Top Five on home page added and the NPL standings page removed. More convienent and easier for everything I think.

January 21, 2008

FC Orlando 98 was awarded the 2007 Miklos Feher Cup after the division agreed that he did. Congratulations Eddie! Also the MFCup for 2008 is still being decided on.

January 7, 2008

Few updates made. MF Cup still being decided on. Hopefully soon it'll be decided on.

January 4, 2008

Tons of updates made. Nationwide FA Cup site done and link is ready. Of course I still have to fill in teams and stuff like that but MFLS hasn't even started yet and we don't have our divisions yet. Participants & Hall of Champions pages both completed for now. Participants will be adjusted once we get our new division list of teams for 2008. Since the 2007 MFCup champ was never announced on the old site or forums on MFLS I've named Glorydaze & FC Orlando 98 Co-Champions unless someone can prove me wrong. I'm about to start up on the NPL Standings page so if you're reading this I've probably already completed it and you can check it out and the link should be working. The MF Cup is still being decided on. Read the NPL division forum for updates on that. The link is currently disabled.

January 3, 2008

Site still in the making. It looks very much like the old one probably with some minor and some major differences. We are about two months away from MFLS reopening up for the 2008 season. Please email me if interested in joining the league or any comments or suggestions about the site, cup competitions etc. Thanks.
